Throughout their time here, close, continual assessment ensures that each child has the opportunity to meet – and even exceed – their potential.
Every year, each cohort has gained results in standardised tests which are well above the national average. These excellent results have enabled most of our pupils to achieve their first choice of senior school, many of them to prestigious Independent Schools or Grammar Schools.
Each class up to Year 5 has two assigned Year 6 prefects to help and guide the younger children, as they move through their Prep School years. All pupils gradually take on increased responsibility and at the end of Year 6 the girls and boys emerge as confident and capable young people, ready and eager to move on to their chosen senior school.
Creativity and imagination are fostered through Music and the Arts, which are infused into the daily life of the school. Sport also plays an important part in the school week with a mix of timetabled team activities such as football, netball and individual club events, such as Karate.
With so much variety and a high level of individual support and pastoral care, the children thrive and the atmosphere in the Prep School is always busy and productive.
On moving into the Prep School, pupils are progressively immersed into the full curriculum, where they will have access to a broad range of subjects from Science to Spanish. By combining the best traditional teaching with current educational practice, our curriculum goes beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum – giving pupils the opportunity to learn, think and explore. We are confident that our curriculum will encourage pupils to become enthusiastic and independent learners, preparing them for the next stage in their learning journey.
