WORKING TOGETHER TO CREATE A BETTER WORLD
At Gidea Park Prep, pastoral care is not about badges and banners, it is about people and relationships. The pastoral aspect of school life is at the heart of everything that we do, as we firmly believe that children will be more successful in an environment which is caring and supportive.
We value every pupil, providing them with opportunities to learn academically and grow emotionally. No two pupils are the same, and our children know that they are valued as individuals, with unique strengths and weaknesses. We want each child to feel secure enough to fulfil their academic potential and develop as well-rounded individuals, who show empathy and respect towards others.
We aim to foster a community where everyone helps each other and looks after our environment, and where relationships are excellent between pupils, staff and parents. Having children and adults working collaboratively in a mutually supportive, respectful and kind community, means that all our children can thrive – academically, personally and socially.
Our older pupils are mentors to our younger pupils, and a caring and supporting atmosphere pervades.
This is a happy school which promotes traditional values such as kindness, tolerance and courtesy. These core values are reinforced through PSHRE lessons, which are led by form teachers who are pivotal in the care that we provide.
Lessons help to provide a firm moral basis in these times when so many attitudes, beliefs and ethics are questioned daily. Regular morning worship is an important part of school life and appropriate themes are selected to provoke thought and reflection. Fundamental British values are actively promoted throughout the curriculum, as children develop an understanding of the rule of law, learn to appreciate individual liberty, enjoy their role in democratic processes, and foster a mutual respect and tolerance of their peers.
Excellent pastoral care is central to everything we believe, and everything we do.
